However, Pastor Isaac Noriega’s recent public comments, expressing a sense of persecution and lamenting the public exposure of information he’d prefer his congregation didn’t see, demonstrate GDT leadership’s strong opposition to our site.
While we usually adhere to our normal publishing schedule, allowing ample time for comprehensive review and validation of information related to Golden Dawn Tabernacle (GDT), recent events have compelled us to deviate from our regularly scheduled posts to share this update. In our ongoing coverage, we’ve committed to providing in-depth analysis and research on the events and doctrines of Golden Dawn Tabernacle, and of its Pastor, Isaac Noriega. Our practice is to utilize public records and/or verified witness information, ensuring the accuracy of our content – a meticulous process that takes a lot of time and requires the full involvement of our team.
With that said, we received a notification on May 22, 2023 from the Trust and Safety division of our web hosting service, informing us of a trademark complaint lodged against our site. The complaint was filed by GDT Church Secretary & Treasurer Samuel Samaniego, via a local Tucson law firm, claiming unauthorized use of our domain name goldendawntabernacle.org, and infringement on the trademark for the names “Golden Dawn Tabernacle” and “Tabernaculo Emanuel”.
Below is a copy of the email with the name of the law firm redacted.
Claims Made By Church Official via Law Firm
Let’s examine the claims that the Mr. Samaniego made on behalf of GDT church leadership:
- Claim 1: “Although many photographs and information are relevant to the church, no material has been authorized for use on the website by any officer/official of Tabernaculo Emanuel and Golden Dawn Tabernacle.”
- Rebuttal: There is no need to receive authorization from the church to use photographs and information relevant to the church as this information is public record, or content provided by current and former church members who lawfully obtained that content and provided permission for its use. Furthermore, the church has no copyright content registered with the US Copyright Office.
- Conclusion: This is a baseless claim with no legal merit.
- Claim 2: The church claims that they have official trademarks registered for Tabernaculo Emanuel and Golden Dawn Tabernacle and which are currently recorded with Pima County with Sequence Numbers 20130301108 & 20130301107. They also claim that they “have not authorized or consented to the use of their trade name and or trademark.”
- Rebuttal: The records mentioned above are not trademark registrations. They are merely affidavits filed with Pima County documenting that the church is doing business as (DBA) under the trade names of Tabernaculo Emanuel and Golden Dawn Tabernacle. This allows the church to open bank accounts, perform transactions such as paying bills, under these trade names but does not give them exclusive rights to those names.
- According to the AZ Secretary of State, filing a trade name registers a business name for public record. A trade name is similar to a “doing business as” (“DBA”) name, and is not legally required but is an acceptable business practice.
- Furthermore, a trade name does not grant exclusive rights to a business name, nor is a trade name similar to a corporation or limited liability company (“LLC”). If you want to file a corporation or LLC, you need to file with the Arizona Corporation Commission.
- A search in the Arizona Corporation Commission database showed no business names for either Golden Dawn Tabernacle or Tabernaculo Emanuel.
- A search in the Arizona Secretary of State database showed no trade names or trademarked names registered for either Golden Dawn Tabernacle or Tabernaculo Emanuel.
- Conclusion: Golden Dawn Tabernacle and Tabernacle Emanuel are not registered trademarks, therefore the church does not have exclusive rights to these names, and no authorization or consent to use these names is required.
- Rebuttal: The records mentioned above are not trademark registrations. They are merely affidavits filed with Pima County documenting that the church is doing business as (DBA) under the trade names of Tabernaculo Emanuel and Golden Dawn Tabernacle. This allows the church to open bank accounts, perform transactions such as paying bills, under these trade names but does not give them exclusive rights to those names.
- Claim 3: “We believe in good faith that the unauthorized use of the trade name and or trademark is an infringement on the polices that govern the use of trade names and or trademarks and terms of service for wordpress.com. We believe this is a fraudulent website that has exhibited malicious intent towards the officials and congregation of Tabernaculo Emanuel and Golden Dawn Tabernacle.”
- Rebuttal: According to our hosting site WordPress, anyone who is filing a trademark complaint must answer several questions first.
- One of the questions is: “Is the website using your trademark to review or criticize your products or service? If so, this is not trademark infringement. Since we will promptly reject your complaint, please don’t submit your complaint.”
- While our site is not using the church’s trademark (because they do not have one), our site is being used to research, document and review church practices, so even if the church did have a trademark, it would not be considered trademark infringement, according to WordPress.
- Furthermore, this is not a fraudulent site with malicious intent towards the officials and congregation of the church. Our investigative research is based on publicly available information and witness accounts in order to be as accurate as possible. We challenge church officials to provide any evidence countering or disproving the information that we have published and we will gladly correct it.
- Conclusion: This is also a baseless claim, and does not violate the terms of service for WordPress.com
- Rebuttal: According to our hosting site WordPress, anyone who is filing a trademark complaint must answer several questions first.
- Claim 4: Good faith belief that use of the trademark as described above is an infringement of the rights granted under United States and/or foreign trademark law.
- Rebuttal: Based on what Mr. Samaniego is claiming, it appears that the church officials may not know the difference between trade names and trademarks. According to Justia, trade names are used to register the name that you are doing business as (DBA) at the state level. A trademark requires a separate registration from a trade name, and this must be done at the federal level rather than just at the state level.
- We conducted a trademark search at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and found no registered trademarks for either Golden Dawn Tabernacle and Tabernaculo Emanuel.
- Conclusion: This is another baseless claim with no legal merit that appears to be based on a lack of understanding the difference between a trade name and a trademark.
- Rebuttal: Based on what Mr. Samaniego is claiming, it appears that the church officials may not know the difference between trade names and trademarks. Trade Name Use Documents Provided Show Isaac Noriega as Sole Proprietor of Church
Interestingly, the documents provided as part of the complaint reveal that Isaac Noriega operates the church as a sole proprietor (shown below), rather than it being run as a non-profit organization overseen by a board of trustees – a stark contrast to the traditional church management structure. It bears repeating that the claims filed by Isaac Noriega with Pima County are in the form of an affidavit trade name record, which is not equivalent to an official trade name or trademark.
Law Firm Employee is Church Member
In this complaint, we have redacted the law firm’s name for privacy reasons. Following further investigation, we believe we have pieced together what transpired.
We discovered that a female member of GDT is employed with the law firm that processed this trademark complaint, with her LinkedIn profile listing her as a Legal Assistant. Sources familiar with this employee depict her as an individual that has a seemingly strict lifestyle with peculiar attire changing habits – switching from non-church approved clothing at work to church-approved clothing after work. We believe that it is highly likely that GDT church official Mr. Samaniego reached out to this member and requested she file this complaint utilizing her office resources. It is possible that she may have done this representing them as a client of the law firm unbeknownst to her employer. But it is also possible that church officials did hire this law firm but used her as an intermediary to perform this attempted site takedown. Regardless of the how process was conducted, it is clear that GDT church officials took direct action in an attempt to silence us.
Moreover, it’s worth highlighting the blatant hypocrisy that is apparent of the church officials. Despite their usual stance against women engaging in jobs outside cleaning houses, it seems they find it acceptable for a GDT female church member to work in an office setting if the situation conveniently necessitates it, especially if she happens to be the daughter of a late high ranking church evangelist, thereby exempting her from church member typical restrictions.
Conclusion
We believe we stand on solid legal ground with our research and website. We have never represented ourselves as the Golden Dawn Tabernacle church leadership or as the church, nor will we ever attempt to do so. Our objective remains consistent: to shine a light on the public records, rules, events and questionable practices related to Golden Dawn Tabernacle and to provide resources and a pathway for those that want to leave this church. We understand that this might provoke discomfort or resistance from church officials, who might want to silence us and our factual reporting. However, our First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution, which guarantee freedom of speech, serve as a formidable bulwark against such attempts by cult leaders to suppress dissent.

So Isaac has the church under a sole propietorship? For you church members that still go to golden dawn remember years ago when they built the tabernacle youre all in, Isaac was telling the people if the church would to ever split up They would sell the church and divide it amongst the tithe paying members. We agree, the comments definitely took a dark turn. We understand the frustration with the hypocrisy with church officials and certain enabling members and their actions but we’d prefer to not publicly name those people on this site. We have redacted the names of those mentioned in the comments.
I wish /need for people who have been hurt by Isaac and GD leadership to please show grace! and no matter how bad I/you may have been hurt by them/Isaac lets try to forgive by showing them the love they have not shown us. The love and grace we give them (although not given in return) can help set those stuck inside free.

There were several situations in my life and the stories that I’ve heard.
Is that Isaac was so stern on not involving the authorities or running to legal aid for anything relating personal/financial or private affairs. Including criminal and child abuse cases.
For him to run to the aid of lawyers is a tell all of his fear of what else will be exposed.

These individuals have victimized underage girls, have lived double lives their entire lifes. Have kept contact and have even been seen with family who have left the church. The wanna be lawyer nun’s brother coaches basketball alongside his sisters boyfried. The sister who left church and has been taken out of the blood. So that means he’s fellowshipping with family members who have left church. There’s infallible proof in this.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you really want to know how this issac Noriega cult works just refer to the Mafia. He is surrounded by his elders which have grown kids (by grown I mean married and with loads of kids). Some of these elders children are hooked on drugs (cocaine) and the fathers know about it, Isaac knows about it but they shove it under the rug, turn a blind eye to it. And continues to harshly punish congregants, for way less. As long as his elders are protected his cult structure is protected as well. And a lot of the congregation don’t know this. They are kept completely oblivious to these dark situations. Therefore they never question anything.

Repeated statements are more often judged to be true. Some redacted statements that multiple people attested to should remain. It is embarrassing, personal and painful but it’s transparent.

The pain, these boys and girls experience without their families, especially their moms and dads is really devastating. This is common, not only within our church, but across the board with cults of all types of beliefs and religions that practice SHUNNING
(removing someone from under the blood).
The explanation given in church that these young people are paying the price for turning away from God.
In reality they’re dealing with the consequences of having their entire life, family, work and friends circle stripped away from them overnight.
These young people have never gotten nearly as much care and attention as they need and deserve.

God is love, but love is not taught in this church. They teach you to hate and fight against each other.
I’ve heard of two close ministers to Isaac who have preached in his pulput that during their last days they confesses to their closed loved ones that they regret ever following or listening to Isaac.
Isaac is not being persecuted, Isaac is being given a reality check of generational abuse, sweeping things under the rug and hypocrisy. Isaac is a lier, a manipulator. And one day he will be held accountable for all he did. All the suffering, pain, deceit and dishonesty.
Their is still time to repent Isaac, I hope you do that soon. As your days are numbered. Do it before you loose the rest of your mind and senses.

I wasn’t able to have fellowship with my mother for a number of years nor did I get to hug her and say goodbye before the Lord took her home. But some sweet day I will see her again and Isaac (Ismael) will have no say whatsoever about it.

So …..I think I have a big take on Isaac..if you look me up I was chairman of the trustee board for like 20 years …I got elected at at 19 yrs old ..he came to me and said he wanted me to be a trustee after I got married..so I was voted in as a trustee at the age of 20..
So I really loved this man…I still look back at try to understand… looking back he he was always look to use his position to furt5his his life…free labor..one day I realized that he did not have my soul in his best interest..I was just a means of him getting ahead..that is when I quit
