A Review of the Two Pioneers Book – Part 1

As previously reported, Golden Dawn Tabernacle church officials released a biography on Pastor Isaac Noriega. They titled the book “Time-Tested Memorials, The Life Story of Two Pioneers: Brother Isaac and Sister Lucy.” A scanned digital (and searchable) copy of this 280 page book is listed below:

Focus of Biography – Mostly One “Pioneer

Despite the title giving the impression that this book is about Isaac and Lucy (Two Pioneers), the vast majority of the book is focused on Isaac Noriega. As shown in the table of contents below, there is only one chapter dedicated to Lucy Noriega (Rivera), and it is a mere two pages long.

Two Pioneers Book Table of Contents

The vast majority of the times that Lucy Noriega is mentioned, it is generally about her deep devotion and unquestioning loyalty to her husband and her involvement in his story.

The book perfectly summarizes her supporting role in the introduction:

“Sister Lucy had her part in the ministry by being a supportive and faithful helpmate to Brother Isaac, never uttering one complaint about the countless hours her husband spent dealing with the needs of the people. She was a remarkable lady of faith who believed in the one true and living God, and recognized that her husband, Brother Isaac, represented Him.”

Placing Isaac Noriega On A Pedestal

It is interesting to note how the book immediately places Isaac on a pedestal in the introduction as clearly stated in the above paragraph where it blatantly claims that Isaac Noriega represents God. The book introduction starts by comparing him to Abraham (the father of many nations – Genesis 17:5), and his lineage, Isaac and Jacob.

“Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Rachel, Brother Isaac and Sister Lucy-what do these four couples have in common? They were all supernaturally called to be pioneers in the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

In the Greek Lexicon, the word pioneer is Archegos, which means “prince (or princess).” In the Bible, the first three couples were called to be pioneers of the royal lineage that led to the birth
of the King of Kings on earth, our Lord Jesus Christ. In our day, Brother Isaac and Sister Lucy were also called to be pioneers in the ministry at Tabernaculo Emanuel that has led to the birth of the literal life of Jesus Christ in His Royal Bride in this local assembly. With a ministry vindicated by the Pillar of Fire, these pioneers have stood firmly on the Word, believing the promise of this hour. Though they have gone through many years of difficult trials that have included harsh criticism, cruel mocking, malicious lies, backsliding, sickness, and death, they have exemplified the Life of Christ to this local assembly and to all those with whom they have come in contact.

In the introduction section, the book states that there are supernatural events that have occurred in the GDT ministry and are notable landmarks that vindicate the church.

Page 5: “As the new generation are eyewitnesses today of how the Lord has abundantly blessed the Bride in this local assembly, may we never forget our humble beginnings. May we always remember the supernatural events that have occurred in this ministry, which are notable landmarks that speak of the work of God in our midst. May the new generation see that God’s love has been manifested to us by choosing us to be under this ministry and that He has chosen each of us individually for a special work that He has for us to do.”

We would love to know what those special works are and if they have had a positive impact on the local community.

Claiming Vindication Via “Supernatural” Events

One of the themes observed in the book is how it tries to make normal events seem supernatural and tie them to biblical types and signs to give these events more weight. It is very plausible that he did this to escalate his status and give him power equivalent to God.

The book claims that Isaac’s mother underwent an experience similar to John the Baptist’s mother while Isaac was in her womb.

Page 7: “Like John the Baptist of old who was filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother’s womb, (LUKE 1:1 ) two outstanding events took place while Brother Isaac was still in his mother’s womb. About a month before his birth, Sister Esther was temporarily blinded when a Light flashed before her; she eventually regained her sight. She also heard him cry out from her womb before he was born. Truly God had His eye on His servant…”

Furthermore, the book claims that Isaac was dedicated under the name of Elisha as an infant.

Page 8: “Brother Pablo Garcia dedicated Brother Isaac to the Lord Jesus Christ two weeks later under the name of Elisha Noriega.”

This appears to be another attempt to liken Isaac to a prophetic figure in the bible. This is something that caught us (and quite a few readers) by surprise. This is not something that Isaac ever mentioned publicly to the best of our knowledge, which is not like Isaac. He usually mentions noteworthy events that elevate his status quite often. Interestingly enough, there is no mention of Isaac’s birth name (Ismael/Ishmael) except for the following excerpt below in which Pearry Green gave his blessing to Isaac Noriega’s early ministry:

Page 86: “As Brother Pearry preached that service in the schoolhouse, at one point, slightly perspiring, he turned to look at Brother Isaac, who was sitting to his left side behind him, and declared under inspiration: “To Ishmael he gave gifts; but to Isaac, he gave everything. (Genesis 25:5-6) May God give you the hearts of the people.”

Throughout his ministry, Isaac mentioned changing his name from Ismael to Isaac because he did not like the negative connotations of being named Ismael since Isaac is the more noble and powerful name in the Christian world. This is a well-known fact within the GDT community so it is peculiar that it wasn’t addressed in the book.

The book mentions the (supposed) pillar of fire appearance to Isaac and appears to make it the linchpin in the commission and vindication of Isaac Noriega’s ministry. The book also highlights the importance that William Branham placed on the pillar of fire.

Page 34: “A few days later, on Sunday, June 2, 1963, Brother Isaac had an encounter with the Pillar of Fire. (This was the same date that the one hundred and twenty who were gathered in the upper room were filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2)).”

The book again ties significance to the date that this supposedly occurred, likening it to a biblical event.

Page 79: “By the time Brother Isaac finished reading these Scriptures, it was about three o’clock in the morning. All of a sudden, the glow of the Pillar of Fire came into his hospital room and flooded him with healing power. About five o’clock in the morning, he got off the hospital bed, and as soon as his feet touched the floor, he felt as if a jolt of electricity shot through him. He walked to the bathroom and took a shower.”

Page 175: “The same Pillar of Fire that commissioned Brother Isaac as a young man is still leading today in a ministry that continues to be an Artesian Well not only locally, but around the world. That Pillar of Fire that has kept Brother Isaac standing on the Word throughout his entire ministry, preaching his heart out for the Kingdom of God, is living on in the hearts of a new generation. Most assuredly, God has been with His faithful servant throughout all these years and continues to keep His promise of being with His Bride to the end.”

Something we ask our readers to consider: are any of these so-called supernatural events verifiable? Or are they merely a story a fallible man is telling, claiming they are supernatural? Is Pastor Isaac Noriega attempting to emulate William Branham?

Conclusion

This book about Isaac Noriega is a carefully curated biography. It places a focus on personal events in Isaac’s life that he claims were supernatural, yet are conveniently impossible to verify. The theme of the book even gives undertones of pastor worship towards Isaac Noriega (which helps explain why pastor worship is present as examined in recent articles (Pastor Worship Part 1, Part 2)

In the dedication section, the book claims that the goal of the book is to show the new generation in the church the work of God through Isaac and Lucy so that they may believe in Jesus Christ.

“This book is dedicated to the new generation of Tabernaculo Emanuel, that they may read and understand the supernatural work of the Lord Jesus Christ in this Word Assembly; and that in reading of the work of God through Brother Isaac and Sister Lucy Noriega, they may believe for themselves that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”

We ask the current and former members of Tabernaculo Emanuel / Golden Dawn Tabernacle:

What are those supernatural works in the church? Are they verifiable? We would love to speak to those who have seen these supernatural works so we can examine them.

What are the works of God through Isaac Noriega? The book claims he was “sold out” and spent countless hours studying and praying. The Pharisees did the same thing. Is he a modern-day Pharisee?

Does seeing the works of Isaac Noriega really inspire others to believe in Jesus Christ? How many people has he driven away from Jesus through his actions?

It can be argued by those hurt by the church that the legacy left behind by church leaders is more pain and heartbreak that far outweighs any positives that may be perceived as works of God.

What do you think? Is there anything supernatural at Tabernaculo Emanuel / Golden Dawn Tabernacle? Is Isaac Noriega vindicated by his supernatural claims?

Isaac Noriegas mom called him Ismael till the day she died. She would also say he was a liar. It’s crazy how demented this poor man is. He actually believes all these things about himself.
His father, Clemente Noriega used to beat his wife while pregnant with Isaac. You beat a pregnant woman she’s gonna go blind temporarily. Google it. And it’s a really sad thing when a baby cries in the womb. He’s experiencing trauma. Nothing supernatural just violence and abuse. Noriegas never have broken that cycle. Isaac should have never been in power.
